Mártires de Carral, 17, this gem offers a flavorsome journey into the region’s culinary traditions, focusing primarily on its star dish—octopus—or as the locals call it, pulpo.

The atmosphere within Pulpería Romeán radiates warmth and authenticity, welcoming both locals and visitors alike. The rustic decor complements the straightforward dining experience, making it the perfect spot for anyone eager to savor traditional dishes without the frills.

At Pulpería Romeán, the octopus takes center stage, prepared with a mastery that showcases the essence of Galician cooking. One mouth-watering dish that stands out is the expertly grilled octopus, often recommended by patrons like Monica Frega, who delights in the tender texture enhanced with a light sprinkle of paprika. This flavorful addition elevates the experience, making each bite a burst of taste that lingers long after your meal concludes.

For a complete adventure on your plate, the octopus is best paired with cachelo—boiled potatoes that offer a comforting contrast to the bold flavors. Many reviewers hint that while the restaurant excels in its specialty, the menu might seem limited, but the simplicity is part of its charm. Efstratios Parlalis encourages diners to embrace the tradition and relish in the classic flavors that the region has to offer.

Good pulpo, just very salted at the top of the pile. Better to order with cachelo than to eat with bread but I hope that’s not too salty.

Food is really tasty, price is very fair. Good place to eat pulpo, many local people coming here regularly. Yes, I do recommend this place.

The best thing on the menu is the grilled octopus (pulpo). I had half a portion of pulpo and I asked for slightly spicy which means it is served with some light paprika powder on top. I also had a tomato salad, a portion of bread and a small bottle of sparkling water. The bill came to €10. It's a fair price for fast no fass food which is very tasty. I would definitely go again next time I am in Lugo.

I went early, around 2pm but by the time I left it was busy with locals. The pulpo was tender and tasty, better than I've had in other places. It's casual dining and very good.
